I've been really wiped out recently, partly the M.E. but also a bit of a cold that doesn't escalate, but refuses to leave. So what's a girl to do but immerse herself in Etsy. I looked at lots of things but these ones reflect today's colours, greys and pale blues with moments of brighter blue and yellow when the sun peaked through the cold February sky.

My Halloween - food, face, flowers - 2011

Much belated, a few snippets from my Halloween Dinner party:
1. Autumn Squash and a lovely Black Bear brooch from Adadine (guilt gift from Mr P).
2. Facepaint always makes me happy.
3. Oxalis plant in a ceramic raku fired bowl I made in the early 90's.
4. Japanese snacks in a small ceramic tealight holder.

Otchipotchi tiny white vases

Otchipotchi porcelain vases available to buy here. I'd love to add one of these to my little collection of tiny handcrafted white bud vases but as always, it's the postage costs that stop me. If I ever find myself in Portugal I'd love to visit and buy lots of Paula's wondrous white delights.

Loosening up

Net experiments 1990-92

I worked out some yoga adaptations to suit my health and my dodgy bones. So far so good. Aching all over from a year of tightening up, but I can feel, under the ache, a loosening up of the muscles (reason for tangled picture above) and a deepening of the breath (reason for picture below, which I've shown before but seems so appropriate just now).

I've finally accepted that I simply can't bend and twist in ways that I used to, and it's ok. Even if I only manage 5% of a session it's still beneficial, and at the very least it amuses the cat. He likes it when I'm on the floor, and he can sit above me. Yes Your Feline Highness, you King of all you survey and I prostrate myself at your handsome feet.

White textures

I promised I'd keep showing all the posts that never made it into my month (or two) of white posts in January and February. With all the sun and colour of the last 2 weeks I thought a cooling white catch up might be in order, and might psychologically prepare me for the snow predicted to arrive this weekend. Poor little lambs nearby think every day will be sunny like today was, I wish I could take them home. Enjoy the lamb-like whites, mostly familiar names, but also a few newer ones...

People have been busy

I'm only just beginning to catch up on what my blogging friends have been up to while I was away... needless to say many of you have been very busy. It'll take me ages to visit you all, I'm still having minimal computer time but so far it's become clear that Lisa was installing, Vanessa was writing words of wisdom, Gracia was, Heather was opening a NEW shop, Bibbi was experiencing winter but expressing spring, Camilla and Karin have been bearing the fruits of their collaboration...

Hi Francesca, I love your book of words and sentences. I do this too but mine are in little hand made packets each with with a themes like nature, interiors, animals, thoughts. I't's obsessive stuff isn't it. If I can't cut them up I write them down, but there's something about having the actual page that feels extra special. I have some great one's from a cheesy crime thriller where they described the scenes of the crimes brilliantly describing chandeliers, echoing rooms with faded curtains... so beautiful out of context.

I agree, weather related snippets can be really lovely. I especially like ones set in countries where the winds have beautiful names like Levanter, Mistral and Simoon (Levanter was on my list of loved words in '06). It's all I can do to keep the scissors away from Mr P's Patrick O'Brian books, they have lots of weather references many of which are nautical which adds to the appeal, and all said in lovely early 19th century language.

Such incredibly delicate work, really evokes the delicacy and strength that can be found in nature.
Nature isn't looking so delicate outside tonight, high wind and rain has drastically reduced the 7 inches of snow that fell out here in the last 24hrs. I never made it out to play, but Mr P took my camera when he walked Lucy so I'll post a few pics tomorrow if I can.
