For Kate
Kate, as requested I went to do something special and take a picture. A birthday lunar eclipse! Clearly I'm not in the photo, too dark. It was so good to be out in the country away from all the light pollution of Edinburgh, the sky was totally black, the stars more numerous and bright than I've seen in a year.
Through binoculars the eclipse looked really beautiful as the shadow part was actually a reddish orange colour (doesn't show on the photo) through which you could still see the shapes and shadows of the moons craters.
It was so completely peaceful, we all just stood gazing for quite a while. It remained elcipsed during our midnight journey home and was the last thing I saw before I fell asleep in the car.
Kate, I hope your journey went well and that you can have some really good close time with your Grandma. I'll be thinking of you, and don't worry about emailing.
