37 - images from today

Good morning pussy cat, or rather, good afternoon (I slept late)

One year older, finally the age I've been thinking I was for the last year. I woke to sunshine and snowflakes. When I took Lucy out this afternoon the wind was so cold it froze my face. I felt like I'd been at the dentist, no feeling in my cheeks and jaw but oh my goodness, everything looked so beautifully bleached in the sunlight...

I had an exhausting but wonderful weekend at my parents with Lucy. I was in my element using all the knowledge gleaned from obsessive watching of Cesar Milan and succesfully controlled a pack of 4 large dogs. It was hard work but at the time the adrenalin carried me through. Today I can't move my arms - ouch, lactic acid overload in the old muscles. But I feel like I achieved something, and that feels really good. Mum and dad couldn't believe I got all the dogs fed in the same room at the same time without raucous barking and general insanity. They even video'd me feeding them all their breakfast.

We stayed over because Sunday was Mother's Day. Mum was a bit worried about leaving Lucy at home with the others (though they all got on fine) so instead of us taking her for a meal, she cooked up a feast. SO tasty and included lots of things I could eat. Oh, my mouth is still watering at the thought of the tastiness.

The nice thing about going there is that the fields are right behind the garden so I don't have to walk on any concrete to walk the dogs. I don't think I limped all weekend. Not that I was running around, I only wen a little way into the field but the others went further and then the dogs ran like wild happy creatures between us all. I loved it, the dogs loved it and I think the family did too. My brother came on the Sunday and we were doing some planning for our trip in 10 days - totally exciting. I'm thinking of blogging when I get there and you can guess where I am.

Merci ladies.

Susan, mum made a baked veggie thing with lots of mediterranean veg in it an tapenade plus a really nice salad with MASSES of pine nuts in it (I LOVE pine nuts).

I don't know exactly all the ingredients in the bake, but it tasted different from any bake I've had before, utterly yummy, I ate way too much - of course :0)

***Happy Birthday Cally***
I'm glad you had such a great weekend and were able to get out with the dogs and have some fun doing nice family things - and enjoy your Mum's yummy home cooking of course! Good to know that the dog whispering techniques work. I will have to check out Cesar Milan as I haven't come across him before - just had a quick flick to his site from your link. Beautiful pics as ever.

I'm glad to read such a positive post! My boy in the pink bucket refused to step on top of that shower floor because it had no tiles, as he is used to! Neurosis I can read already...and it was a wonderful ceramic-like surface that traditional builders in Morocco have used from ancient times! Unfortunately one cannot tell from the picture what texture it has nor its properties...It has a name, which escapes me at the moment...Morocco is a country of colour and shapes. You would make fantastic pictures there, because if anybody like me can, then a person like you, who is able to portrait ordinary items with such an art can do marvels. I am always looking for interesting objects, different planes, good light, great angles, and everything seems to me so ordinary that I end up not taking any photo. That is why I admire the images you capture from landscapes and objects. It is like an illustration job, just "alive."
Be well. MariaC.

Sheila, He is the king of working with dogs, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Ah yes, pink bucket boy, that was such a nice image. The tiles sound lovely. I've always wanted to visit Morocco with my camera and an empty bag (to fill with textiles). I think I'd be so happy taking photo's I'd forget to eat!
